After years of abstaining from participation in policy making, the decision was made collectively in June 2024 that OCDLA should take a more active role in monitoring and directly impacting policy in Oklahoma as it relates to the criminal justice system.  Ultimately, OCDLA hopes to position itself to provide legislators and other stakeholders with information and perspectives not currently being presented in the policy realm.  During the 2025 Legislative Session, members of the OCDLA Legislative Policy Committee worked to monitor bills identified as relating to OCDLA’s mission, and to provide information to support those bills.  What became clear is that a collection of volunteer members, who cannot be at the Capitol on a day in and day out basis, simply cannot accomplish OCDLA’s policy goals.
Following an outcry from members to more actively participate in this arena, the OCDLA Board of Directors has decided that now is the time that we begin to fundraise and hire a policy specialist to represent the interests of our membership, our clients and the criminal justice system at the legislature.  Having a lobbyist at the Capitol full time will enable us to have a stronger voice in policy matters than we have ever had.
Please donate, in whatever amount is comfortable to you, to this important effort.
